The
BioMaas
Platform

Maximize yields and withstand the pressures of change.

Approach

Our approach to CRISPR is different.

Introducing Protoplasting.

To go beyond individual trait modification, we had to build a technology that could optimize multiple plant traits at once, and scale for as many plants as possible.

That’s why our platform utilizes a DNA-free method of CRISPR, called Protoplasting, that leverages the biology of cells to optimize for multiple traits.

Protoplast cells, lacking the outer cell wall

01.
Protoplasting
Isolating individual plant cells without cell walls
02.
Transfection and genome editing
Inserting the CRISPR machinery into these cells and making the desired edits to the plant genome
03.
Single cell regeneration
Growing a full new plant from a single, edited cell

Possibilities

Protoplasting opens up a world of possibilities

Multiplexing
Editing multiple targets in one go
Promoter editing
Genome editing to enable up or down regulation of gene activity
Precise genome editing (HDR)
Template-guided genome editing to modify gene function
Scale
A workflow designed with scaling in mind

Advantages

The BioMaas platform has distinct advantages from other applications of CRISPR

1/3

Of the time

1/5

Of the cost

Yields a genetically uniform, optimized plant in as little as 12-18 months.

Does not rely on foreign DNA, helping improve regulatory timelines, associated costs, and potentially outcomes

Can target multiple genes in one round of optimization, minimizing the change of off-target effects.

Regenerates single cells into whole plants, ensuring genetic uniformity of the resulting plant
